WHY TABLESIDE

What makes the table different

Facilitated conversation is not therapy, mediation, or coaching. It is something quieter — and often more useful.

Balanced, not directed

The facilitator holds space for both sides equally. No one walks out feeling like they lost.

Unhurried by design

Sessions are structured so the conversation has room to breathe. No agenda to rush through.

Something to take home

Printed prompt cards, written summaries, and notes help households continue the conversation on their own.

Senior facilitation

Every session is led by a facilitator with a background in community and group facilitation practice — not a trainee or assistant.

A proper studio space

The Bangsar Baru studio is set up specifically for this kind of conversation — quiet, comfortable, and free of distractions.

Continuity for longer needs

The annual subscription pairs your household with one facilitator across the full year — building understanding over time, not just for a single session.

Is there a conversation your household keeps putting off?

A session at Tableside gives it a structure, a facilitator, and a time that belongs only to that conversation. Reach out to find the right format for your situation.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Before you sit down at the table

Is this the same as couples therapy or family counselling?
No. Tableside facilitators are not therapists or counsellors and do not offer diagnosis, treatment, or professional advice of any kind. The sessions use structured conversation prompts and facilitation practice to help participants talk more carefully. If you are looking for clinical support, we are happy to point you in a different direction.
Who typically comes for a Couples Session?
Partners at any stage of a relationship — including those who feel they communicate well but want to go deeper, and those who feel stuck on a particular topic. There is no requirement for a relationship to be in difficulty. Many couples come simply because they want a structured space for a conversation they have been meaning to have.
How does the Blended Family Block work for separated households?
The block is designed to accommodate households where adults are not living together. We can work with arrangements where some adults attend in person and others join remotely, depending on the circumstances. The facilitator does not make legal determinations or act as a mediator — the goal is conversation, not binding agreement.
What happens in the intake questionnaire before a session?
We send a short written questionnaire to each participant before the session. It asks about the topics you would like to spend time on and any practical considerations we should know about. The answers are read by the facilitator and help shape the prompt selection for your session. Responses are treated as private.
Where are sessions held?
Sessions take place at our studio in Bangsar Baru, Kuala Lumpur — Lot 22, Jalan Telawi 3. The space is quiet and private, set up around small round tables. We do not currently offer home visits, but remote attendance for specific participants can be arranged case by case.
What are the payment and rescheduling terms?
Payment is made in advance to confirm the booking. We accept bank transfer and major cards. Rescheduling is available with at least 48 hours' notice at no additional charge. For the Blended Family Block and Year subscription, payment schedules can be discussed when you get in touch.
Is everything we discuss in the session kept private?
Yes. Session content is not shared externally. The written summary provided after Blended Family Block sessions is distributed only to the adult participants who attended. Facilitator notes are retained internally for continuity purposes on multi-session engagements and are not shared with any third party.
